A dream

A Dream

Music school was a dream to him. He got the seed of inspiration from his cultural school. He managed his dad to convince him in joining the music school. He enters the school, and joins in the Tabala class. The teaching room was lit up with the fragrance of perfume sticks held before lord muruga photo. The teacher's face lightened with vibhuti. The teacher asked "what is your name ?". He said "Bala, 6 B", like he was trained in the school. His musical journey started from then. Bala, according to his guru was a talented student who was able to easily grasp the lessons and learn them quickly. Days rolled by, bala grew up to be a 9th standard boy. His musical journey grew up too, up to where he would need a tabla in his house to practice and improve. At that time, his guru informs Bala's dad, that Bala's skill would improve if he has an instrument in his home for practicing. But according to Bala's dad, spending so much money on an instrument at this age was a challenging decision. He said to guru. Guru, asked permission from the music school and arranged a not in use tabala for a very low rate, for the betterment of bala.

This made a huge impact on Bala's life. He was not of that much delight ever before in his life. Gurus don't only make students prosper. Gurus make their students as next Gurus. And they know it in the very moment they see the right student.

If guru didn't send an instrument to bala's house, he would have never remembered to play it. And think that he is a tabla student. The making of a student began there.

Bala's quest for music kept growing. He became one of the sought after student in the music school. That's when things began to stumble a little.

His growing interest in music took him to stages and audience. He became a known figure in his cultural school. He played the same tabala from which he got inspired from. He somehow managed to play it.

He could never accept his mistake. When he plays wrongly to a song, he knows he is mistaken but never accepts it. This made him more enemies in the school. At the same time, an unexpected news came to bala's ears. His guru had a cardiac arrest and had a major operation and he would not travel a lot, particularly to the music classes anymore. He would take classes at his home only. This was at the first a normal news to bala.

But as days run by, he was worried about, when he would attend the class. One day his dad got a call from the music school and said there is a new tabala teacher. Bala was awaiting to see his new guru. His new guru was a colleague of his old guru. He trained bala in a year what his old guru would do in two years.

He had this dream of big stage performance. He tried his best to perform in some small stages. But his fear of mistaking inbetween made him move away.

He grew up and made it to college. Due to his college timings mismatch. Bala had to discontinue from his music class. Bala's hands still played his favourite notes faster on the tables, water bottles, except tabala.

As he would travel in trains to reach his college every day. One day he noticed a small swollen part in his hand and it had some burning sensation. He avoided it at the beginning. But noticed ant like creatures on his bag. He fiercly cleaned them up.

When bala questioned about this to his dad he said it is a bedbug. This was just the beginning. The bedbug began count began to rise within few months leading to his house full of bedbugs. Bala's family was not aware of its seriousness. This made them clean up their belongings. With a  chemical to kill the bedbug they would spray on the belongings. But it didn't show improvements. After many chemical sprayings, one time bala finds his tabala getting wet of the spray. They kept on Sun for getting dry.

For his misfortune bala didn't notice his tabala getting wet due to rain. The skin of tabala was ruined badly because of rain and sun. It could barely sound like tabala. So they tried repairing it. But it remained helpless. So they gave away the tabla.

Is it the bedbug which made his dream washed away in rain. No, it is his mindset of never getting up after being hit down to the ground. He realised that he should never be careless again. Nature cares us the same as we care her.

One that day bala makes a promise to make his guru's dream of him performing in a bigger stage come true.

He grows up and makes it to 21. As he promised to himself he gives an amazing tabala solo performance.

It is the guru who started it, whom we hardly remember. Bala would not be in this stage without guru's belief in him. And making of bala Believe on himself.
