The Pink Flower

I want to thank Director Madonne Ashwin for the movie #Maaveeran.

The film lead me more clearly a particular frame lead me write this story.

The frame - Sathya gets into the collapsing building to save Maharani. After saving her. He sees the building collapsing and he smiles.

The story - The Pink Flower

A construction worker digging underground tunnels knows his friend stuck inside the tunnel. He has a thing which his daughter is looking out for, he had bought it and kept it safe gaurded with him carrying it everytime, like a flower or something personal.

We establish a emotional connection that is powerful and connects the world up and the world underground. His frnd daughter stands and waits for a bus at a place. The hero goes in search of the friend, just below that area. The small girl walks upon the very delicate surface to find the flower his father promised to get her. But the flower will have birthday wish with it. This didn't have.

Her small moves created ripple effect inside the surface collapsing the tunnel inside. This makes the hero stumble upon a pice of wood. He finds his friend under the wood. Holding the flower firm.

He points upwards and says to give it to her daughter. A petal from the flower falls on the ground, we see the worker go unconscious.

The hero comes outside through a near exit. He feels suprised to see a mother and daughter near a bus stand. He sees a flower in her hand.

He hands her the flower which her father wanted to give. It had dust and mud covered. But it was no different from the flower she was holding. It had a laminated note "happy birthday"

She starts to cry and when she sees that. She throws away the flower hero gives since it is not fresh, but takes the flower she already had in her hand. And leaves the scene.

The hero takes the flower, hands it over to the department.

20 years later, she is waiting for the metro train to arrive. She finds a pot with a flowers which triggers a nostalgic memory of her dad. She calls her mom, recalls the incident. Gets to know they have preserved his belongings.

She finds the decayed flower. She takes it with her preserving it as her fathers memory.

He calls the hero and thanks him for saving her fathers last wish. He says, "I have met your father but we have not spoken much, I heard someone was missing, I wanted to help as soon as possible. I saw your dad when a out of nowwhere a shockwave cleared rocks on the way. He asked to hold this flower and pointed upwards. I understood its importance.

We keep our lives at stake to build a future where people's lives are enriched. We do carry our personal lives with us, even in the underground, while digging, while working. These memories makes us seem powerful and responsible. It makes all the hardwork done meaningful.

Your father wanted her daughters wish to be granted even if he could not make it, because we keep promises. I felt sad when you put down the flower your father gave and took a fresh flower.

I know someday you will want this flower too. And on this day it's not the flower you have come after, it's your father, for who the memory will stay fresh forever.

We grow from wanting things that bring joy, promises that bring happiness. We had toys to keep us occupied, when parents were busy building a life for us. We had promises that made us wait for the happiness. When we get something unmatched to our expectations, we reject it and accept something we expected even though it from a different person, in different ways. When we grow up, we realise that the motive behind the actions not the by product that matters to the heart. It's when we realise objects might decay, destroy, change over time, but the emotions, the memories live forever. This is when we try to search back in our lives and try to realise people and their motives that shine brighter forever in memory that any physical entity could not replace.

Life is realising that value comes with efforts, meaning behind the work done, who did it, rather than the mere object which is prone to change, temporary in time.

She goes to the exact place. She is suprised to see a plant bloomed with flowers of her memory. The hero is the one who has planted it. Now she can have as many flowers as she want for her birthday.

She also gets to know from her mom that every birthday she used to get a flower from the hero as a present. Hero says it's from the tree which I planted using a flower petal. It is now taken down due to a highway road establishment. But I'm happy that you wont worry about it, atlast you found your father fulfil his promise, and the real value in life.
